Criminal Justice Abuse Treatment Studies (CJ-DATS)

Part of the NIDA Networking Project, the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) established the CJ-DATS cooperative research program to study issues with treating substance abuse in offender populations. CJ-DATS brings together researchers, criminal justice professionals, and drug abuse treatment practitioners to establish research centers and a Coordinating Center. In Phase 1 of CJ-DATS, NIDA's goal was to improve drug abuse treatment for offenders and integrate criminal justice and public health responses to drug involved offenders. ACE! Director Dr. Faye Taxman was responsible for the Coordinating Center in CJ-DATS 1. Now in Phase 2, CJ-DATS centers are working on issues of implementation.
