The most effective forms of assessment and treatment are provided by expert clinicians in the community. As such, one of the most important tasks for departments is developing a robust network of community resources to supply the treatment needed by their clients.
Departments should encourage frequent communication and collaboration between officers and community resources.

This allows officers to be aware of client progress and to structure supervision efforts to supplement treatment efforts.

Strategy 7: Build resiliency by altering client involvement in key decisions

When doing so, the client and officer should collaborate to decide what treatment intervention is the best for the client.
